The Democrats have cried wolf against Trump so many times that one may wonder if the current indictments against him even matter. In most legal cases, the analysis of the facts and the law matters above all else. However, in this case, there is more to the story.

Trump has combated lawfare since he became president in 2017. First he had to deal with the Mueller investigation, which did eventually clear him of colluding with the Russians. Then he faced multiple impeachments before the Senate acquitted him. In the past few months, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg leveled charges against him which have little basis in law or fact. Georgia and Washington, D.C., will also likely prosecute the former president soon.

Jonathan Turley, a legal scholar and commentator, said in an interview with Fox News that the charges are indeed serious. “The evidence here is quite strong, and we haven't heard the other side. So they may be able to knock down some of these issues, but some of this evidence comes from his former counsel,” he remarked. “And these are very damaging statements made against him. The fact is both things may be true. Yes, the Department of Justice may have been out to get him, but he couldn't have made it more easy for them to do so.”

The question is, why are they going after President Trump in this manner? The Democratic party hates Trump with a fiery passion because he excels at exposing them for who they truly are. But is there more going on besides the desire to punish him with more indictments?

I’ve heard it said: “If you want to really understand a story, don’t ask who, what, where, or how. Ask why.” The why is obvious. However, the Democrats are strategic in their hate. Biden’s Justice Department could have reclaimed the sensitive documents from Trump with other means, but they chose criminal charges. They understand that Trump is wildly unpopular with independent voters and that a slew of indictments will only worsen his reputation.

Why are they going after President Trump in this manner? The Democratic party hates Trump with a fiery passion because he excels at exposing them for who they truly are.

Therefore, many conclude as I do that the Democrats are weaponizing indictments to help Trump in the primary and hurt him in the general election. But by targeting Trump in this manner, Democrats reveal they do not care if they turn our country into a banana republic. In the past, former presidents and presidential candidates faced compelling allegations of criminality. Yet our elected leaders realized that responding in kind would start a pattern of presidential candidates using the legal system to attack one another.

Such an outcome would destroy the fabric of our country, which is why Trump’s Justice Department decided not to pursue criminal charges against Hillary Clinton in 2017. Now the seal has been broken and American presidents will likely continue to use the Justice Department to attack their political opponents, despite the wisdom of the ages warning against such an offensive.

The Democrats are weaponizing indictments to help Trump in the primary and hurt him in the general election.

However, Republicans must respond to these lawfare attacks by Democrats. If Republicans retake the White House, we must prosecute Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Hunter Biden, and other Democrat officials who engage in illegal activity. I can’t imagine a future where Americans with different political views live in harmony as we have for much of this republic’s history. We cannot preserve, let alone restore, unity by doing nothing.

Inaction ensures destruction. If we fight back, we at least have a chance. Democrats must understand there are consequences for their actions.
