A former private investigator has launched his own ridesharing app in Atlanta and New York that provides armed security and transportation services. Within the next few months, the company is expanding operations to Los Angeles, Miami, and other large cities.
Black Wolf is based in Atlanta and employs a number of highly trained “executive protection specialists.” Drivers are trained marksmen and are equipped to handle everything from stopping active shooters to transporting children to school.
Kerry KingBrown, the founder of Black Wolf and a former private investigator, said in an interview with The Sentinel that he initially created the service after hearing a friend share her experience being sex trafficked in Atlanta.
“I immediately knew we had to do a better job protecting women,” said the executive, who has more than a decade of experience with the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies.
Black Wolf is designed to protect and offer rides to "corporate executives, high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, women, school kids, and regular people who want peace of mind in this crazy world,” according to the company’s website. The service offers armed drivers, unarmed drivers, close protection, and school shuttle drivers, all trained to handle dangerous scenarios and provide protection.
Black Wolf hires a specific type of driver: mostly prior military, experienced security detail, and former law enforcement. All drivers are experienced marksmen and trained by Black Arrow Defense.
The launch of Black Wolf comes as crime rates soar across major cities, leading to heightened demand for security and protection in daily life.
KingBrown added that the demand for Black Wolf, which saw more than 80,000 downloads in its first month, proves that urbanites want better safety in their cities.
“City mayors are too busy defunding the police or not taking necessary steps to reduce criminal activity,” he commented. Costs for the service are “comparable to Uber Black XL, although clients say they can’t put a price on the service we’re offering.”
While states have varying degrees of strictness with respect to their gun laws, KingBrown said that even New York City has embraced Black Wolf.
"I'm from New York, so I understand we have to move very strategically," KingBrown remarked in another interview with Fox News. “And a good thing is we've been getting a lot of hits from a lot of our NYPD officers, which makes it a little bit easier.”
Democrat-run cities have increasingly become more dangerous, witnessing a 10% increase in murders between the first quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2023, according to a study from WalletHub. All five cities are led by Democrat mayors. The cities of Memphis, New Orleans, Baltimore, St. Louis, and Detroit had the highest homicides per capita in the first quarter of this year.
Police budget cuts and decreased cultural support of law enforcement meanwhile correspond with a higher rate of unsolved homicides: murderers currently have a 50% chance of getting away with the crime, according to a report from the Marshall Project.
