Target shifts away from ‘pride month’ in surprising pivot

Trump has discouraged diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts through several executive orders, signaling to many brands that the regulatory climate has shifted away from favoring progressive ideology.

One senior Target official confirmed to the media that the retail behemoth would indeed feature “pride month” merchandise less prominently this year following consumer backlash. File Image.

Target has controversially featured “pride month” displays in recent years, but consumers across the country are reporting that the brand’s celebration of homosexuality and transgenderism has observably declined this year.

While some progressive shoppers have voiced disdain over the pivot, many others are thankful for the move, as displayed through a number of viral posts about the change. One user noted that a prominent display in her local Target was filled with red, white, and blue apparel rather than rainbows and activist flags.

Megan Basham, a reporter at The Daily Wire who covers evangelical issues and the culture war, likewise noticed that the front page of her Target app only had Father’s Day deals rather than offers related to “pride month.”
